The New Dye NT September 16th, 2009

How's this for news? Dye surprised the media last week by announcing and promo'ing their new paintball gun for 2010, the Dye NT.

Ok, let's clarify a few things before I continue. Dye has been gaining corporate fame for the last 6 years through their Matrix gun line (i.e. DM4, DM5, DM6...etc). It began with the Matrix LED, which quickly evolved into the 2003 Matrix LCD (guess what year that was in?). The following year, the DM4 was released by Dye. This gun had a HUGE impact on the high-end gun market, as it introduced many new mechanical and electronic advances in the sport. As you can probably tell, Dye stuck with their Matrix line for a long time... until today.

Apparently, Dye is "hanging up" the Matrix line - or, at least the name. Dye has once again made the NT their smallest, lightest marker to date.

"A three year culmination of engineering and design, creating the most advanced paintball gun ever made. The Dye NT takes accuracy, air efficiency, design and style to a new standard by setting a benchmark for all others to follow. The Dye NT is the Choice of Champions." -Dye

What do YOU think the NT stands for?

I think it's a good move by Dye. While it has nothing to say about the gun's performance, I was simply getting tired of hearing about Dye Matrices. As a paintballer, you would never hear: "What kind of Dye gun do you have?" It was always: "What year Matrix do you have?" Thanks for keeping it fresh, Dye.

Oh, and you wanted a price right? Rumor has it, $1500-$1600 MSRP. What did you expect...?

“Kingman Training” A.K.A 11mm Paintball January 17th, 2009

On April 3rd, Kingman will be releasing two new paintball hand guns mainly intended for use in training atmospheres. The Kingman Eraser and Chaser use 11mm (.43 caliber) paintballs and 12 gram CO2 cartridges as their air source.

Kingman Training applies the latest patent pending paintball technology into this new life-sized marker. The KT marker delivers a true simulated weight and feel, comparable to a real hand pistol. Each “magazine” holds 10 paintballs and shoots up to 300 feet per second. Each 12 gram CO2 cartridge can shoot 4 “magazines”.

The KT marker will provide flawless performance, with increased accuracy and distance. This marker is perfect for recreational simulated environments and Military, Security, or S.W.A.T. training practice. -KingmanTraining.com

Kingman plans on releasing the Chaser and Eraser in 2009. No specific date is know at this time.

Compared to real hand guns, the Kingman Chaser and Eraser are now, most likely, the most "life-like" paintball guns in the consumer market.

Do you think this is a good thing?

Ego 9 = Sexy Time December 26th, 2008

"The latest incarnation of the most popular tournament marker in the world" - Planet Eclipse

It's hard to believe that Planet Eclipse already released their 5th generation paintball gun, the Ego 9. In 2004, the first Eclipse Ego debuted and captured the attention of most professional players and high-end gun users. Planet Eclipse built a gun around weight, air efficiency, size, ergonomics, and accuracy. Over the last 4 years, Planet Eclipse has been making some very aggressive moves in the high-end paintball gun market. The Ego came in and swept away "old technology" in paintball.

Right now the leading manufacturers in the high-end gun market are Dye/Proto (DM9/PM8), Smart Parts (Shocker), and Planet Eclipse (Ego). Say goodbye to WDP (Angels) and WGP (Autocockers), they will soon become antiques. The Eclipse Ego can be partially blamed for this but good riddance. Planet Eclipse has been building their guns around the same solid foundations of reliability, performance, light-weight'ness and simplicity. You can expect the same features, and more, with the new Ego 9.

MSRP: $1499.99 ($1,250.00)
