The Eclipse Ego has always been built around the solid foundations of Reliability, Performance, Light-Weight and Simplicity. And the Ego9 is no exception. It is obvious from the outset that the ground-up re-working of the Ego9 was undertaken with the sole purpose of improving on every one of those key aspects. In fact, performance in almost every area has been increased substantially over the previous generation of Ego.
The major difference with the new Ego 9 compared to its predecessors is that it no longer uses QEVs (Quick Exhaust Valve). Instead, PE integrated a brand-new "bespoke solenoid valve" which is mounted and ported directly into the rammer chamber. You still receive the same cyclic speed and performance you would have when using QEVs, but this ground-up solenoid design gives the Ego 9 "absolute maximum performance" in terms of response time and flow rate for your gun. So instead of having to run a hose from the QEV to the solenoid valve, you just have one hose that runs from the LPR down to the new solenoid valve. This new design by PE improves over air efficiency and response time, as well as physically optimizing the gun. Simplicity and efficiency rule the game.

2008 Spyder Electra
On May 15, 2008 Kingman will be introducing their new 2008 Spyder Electra paintball gun into the market. MSRP'd at $249.99 and retailing for only $199.99, the 2008 Electra is already grabbing the attention from Ion and SLG users. The Spyder Electra is part of Kingman's Classic Series gun line. The Spyder Electra use to be such a primitive electronic paintball gun way back in 2004. Things have changed since then and now Kingman is in a constant running race, along with Smart Parts and Dye, to create an affordable and reliable electronic paintball gun. Right now the battle is between the Smart Parts Ion, Proto SLG, and the 2008 Spyder Electra. Of course there are others, but these are the main players in the market today.
If you had $250 to spend on just a gun (stock, no upgrades), which one would you most likely buy?
Here's Kingman's sales pitch:
The all new generation Spyder Electra with Eye is back with a vengeance. The new design concept features a reduced overall profile (25% weight & 15% length).
